Verizon and Cellcrypt offer encrypted mobile voice services to US Government

Verizon and Cellcrypt have come together to offer secure mobile calling capabilities to the US Government, and I am quite sure that most people do not have any complaints with that considering how national security is always of the utmost importance. Verizon we have all heard of before, but how about Cellcrypt. Here is a little background information on them – Cellcrypt is a provider of government-grade encrypted voice-calling software, so it makes perfect sense for them to collaborate with Verizon in this case.

Verizon Ice Cream Sandwich Update Schedule Leaked

Verizon Ice Cream Sandwich Update Schedule Leaked

As we previously reported, there were rumors floating around the internet as to when Verizon devices like the Motorola XOOM 3G/4G tablets and HTC Rezound would be getting their update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich from the carrier. Now however, a leaked screenshot has surfaced from within the carrier's walls apparently. With wrong information flying everywhere these days it would be best to not take this information as the gospel truth but the kernels of data within the screenshot would put a smile on the faces of those of you who use Verizon's HTC Rezound, Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx or Motorola XOOM 3G/4G tablets.

Chomp for Android Gets Axed

The app discovery service that was acquired by Apple awhile back called Chomp has recently removed the Android option from its website based search. On top of that, the Android based application for Chomp has also gone missing from the Google Play Store. The change reportedly happened only recently and it is still unknown as to how this would alter the partnership that was agreed upon between Chomp and Verizon for app discovery but the only thing that we do know is that the service is no longer available for use on Android.

Diablo 3 could have been shipped earlier, but probably would not have been as good

Blizzard's upcoming game, Diablo 3, is scheduled for a 15th of May launch. However this date was in reality a delay from Blizzard's initial prediction of an end of 2011 launch. While we're sure that many gamers out there were no doubt disappointed by the delay, you guys might want to take some comfort in the fact that Blizzard could have technically released Diablo 3 a lot earlier but it probably would not have been as good as it is now. This was revealed by Lead Software Engineer, Jason Regier who was quoted as saying:.

Watch a vintage Lamborghini Cheetah SUV promo

Lamborghini was in the off-road business before the cult classic LM002, cooperating with MTI on a military vehicle concept dubbed Cheetah in the mid-seventies that it hoped to sell to the U.S. armed forces. The 4,500-pound, fiberglass-bodied troop carrier used a 5.9-liter, 180-horsepower Chrysler engine mounted in back. Hardly Cheetah-like, the vehicle delivered lackluster performance and didn't handle well.
Even worse, it was a badly translated copy of a vehicle already made by another firm, which landed MTI and Lamborghini in court when the Cheetah was revealed at the 1977 Geneva Motor Show. The U.S.

AnTuTu pegs Galaxy S III as most powerful Android device, potentially reveals its specs

Ah, the Galaxy S III. We always knew it'd be a keystone among Android smartphones, but according to the AnTuTu benchmark suite, it'll be the one device to rule them all. While there's no way to verify whether this test is indeed legitimate, all Android users may currently peep the AnTuTu app, which not only shows the smartphone as having bested the mighty Transformer Prime tablet, but it also reveals the most comprehensive set of specs we've yet seen for the Galaxy S III — again, take this with a grain of salt. The device is said to wield a Samsung Exynos 4212 SoC with a dual-core 1.4GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 4.7-inch, 720p HD display.

Google Drive now offers a bumpy ride for Chrome OS dev-channel users

You knew it was gonna happen, but Google's cloud-based storage service has now been married to its cloud-based operating system, as Chrome OS users who receive updates via the dev-channel may now benefit from integration with Google Drive. Most notably, Drive will now appear as an additional folder within the file manager, although the implementation isn't without its quirks. For example, our peers at TechCrunch described the inability to make these files available for offline access.

While few people may be able to afford the company's offerings, the creativity and thought that goes into each of their vehicles is something everyone can appreciate. We went for a brief drive in the very first example just before it made its debut at SEMA last year and fell in love with every detail of the modernized off-roader.

Samsung Galaxy S3 photo leaks, yes, again

It's time for today's "photo of the Samsung Galaxy S3" leak - these seem to occur more and more often as we come closer to May 3, when Samsung's Unpacked event will finally settle things one and for all. The photo shows a device with a hardware home button with two capacitive keys on its sides (menu and back). You can see the volume rocker on the left and the power/lock key on the right - basically, the standard Samsung arrangement.
The screen is off, so there's no way to tell if the device uses the on-screen buttons that we've seen in previous leaks. But it does look an awful lot like the sketch in the alleged leaked manual.

The Sony NEX-F3 has just leaked out via an incompletely framed image, where most of the time, spy images or leaked photos of an upcoming device tend to be a whole lot more blur compared to a pirated movie that you downloaded off the Internet or a bootleg DVD that you purchased during your recent holiday to South East Asia. Not with a leaked image of an upcoming camera though, as the folks who snap such photos know how to manipulate the settings on their device in order to capture the clearest image possible. Tickets for the event sold out in less than two hours, leaving many West Coast developers in the dark, and the Cupertino-based company is enforcing restrictions this year that prevent tickets from being transferred. For developers who aren't interested in legally changing their name to get past Apple's restrictions, there is an alternative - Indie Developer Labs. “Indie Developer Labs is an open area where developers are provided with space to work, free Wi-Fi, and an open environment to connect with other developers.

Samsung patent application explores the possibility of phasing out human crossing guards

We have definitely seen our share of robots and crossing guards, but we almost never really see a combination of the two. An application filed by Samsung today at the US Patent & Trademark office seems to suggest that at least some people have been thinking long and hard about bots helping humans conquer the mean streets of our cities using a multitude of on-board tech - from infrared and proximity sensors - to devices enabling wireless communication between traffic lights and other robots.

The numbers for Samsung's first quarter of 2012 are in and as it expected they are up sharply over the same period from 2011. After predicting profits of 5.8 trillion won it managed to top that, notching an operating profit of 5.85 trillion won ($5.16 billion US) for the quarter, a 98 percent gain over a year ago. Phones accounted for 73 percent of the profit, contributing 4.27 trillion won to the bottom line. At least for this scribe-driver, Audi does a much finer job on its S models than it attempts to do on the RS versions.

This may not be the UK operators first attempt at dipping its fingers logo into your pockets, but O2's new mobile wallet does bring with it some de rigeur functionality. Taking a leaf out of Barclays' book, the new app lets you send "Money Messages," essentially text-driven money transfers to any phone number. There's smart-shopping features, too, such as a barcode reader for price comparisons, and daily discount deals to stop the well from going dry too soon. Interestingly, you can also apply for a physical companion card, based on Visa's pre-pay service to bring your virtual wallet into the real world.

Sure, Google Calendar is helpful, but ultimately it's on you to get yourself to that meeting. Wouldn't it be nice if the utility could handle some of the to-do list itself. Hack A Day scoped out an example of it doing just that, after a home owner named Shane posted a video of his DIY system that uses Calendar to control his heater. First, he connected a USB-powered mbed microcontroller with an ARM Cortex M3 processor to the internet via an Ethernet cable. As it happens, the mbed also has a temperature controller and solid state relay for turning the heater on and off.
