Yesterday's newly updated Android Google Maps app had a nice hidden surprise inside its “Labs” new feature testing tab – the ability to download map areas to your phone, for future use when completely out of range of a data connection. As the name suggests, it lets you cache a chunk of map data and save it to your mobile. There's also a cache management tool included, for deleting unused maps and covering your tracks.
