Google's culture of letting their staff spend 20% of their time working on pet projects of theirs has certainly borne its fair share of fruit over the years, and it has not gone unnoticed that we ourselves have ended up so used to Google Labs features on most of the common services such as Gmail and Google Maps, that we tend to forget that they are experimental in nature (technically speaking). Google Music, too, is a beneficiary this time around, where new features have been introduced to the desktop version of its web player.
