Ever since Apple launched the first iPad two years ago, $499.99 has been viewed as the ‘decent' entry price for a 10-inch tablet with Wi-Fi connectivity and no 3G/4G data. All subsequent iPads have been priced starting from that point, and many competitors have tried (and many failed) to match it. $499.99 has become the sweet spot for tablets, much like $199.99 was it for on-contract smartphones (before Verizon started the whole ‘LTE devices should be more expensive' craze).
So it's refreshing to see an upcoming 10.1-inch Android tablet have a price of just $399.99.
