Ubuntu Phone Targets October 2013 Launch

Ubuntu Phone Targets October 2013 Launch

The mobile operating system environment can be said to be established with some players who will not budge from their places anytime soon – iOS, Android, BlackBerry 10 and of course, Windows Phone 8. Is there more room for one more player. Perhaps, as it is said that Ubuntu would be a decent candidate sometime down the road. First announced a few weeks ago, the Ubuntu smartphone is said to allow users to enjoy just about the same Linux experience across a slew of devices, regardless of whether they are on regular computers or mobile devices which can handle all the nuances of Ubuntu.

UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working

Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.

Apple App Store Vanity URLs Debut in Super Bowl Ad

Apple App Store Vanity URLs Debut in Super Bowl Ad

If you watch the Super Bowl just for the commercials, you may have noticed something. Apple actually made a sneaky appearance in one of the ads, particularly at the end of the new Star Trek movie trailer, when it pointed viewers to Appstore.com/StarTrekApp. It is the first time Apple introduced vanity URLs for its App Store developers. CNET first spotted that tiny detail, noting that Steve Jobs received the domain “AppStore.com” as a gift from Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff in 2008.

Apple will now provide shortened, vanity URLs to developers when they submit their apps on the App Store, whether on iTunes or Mac.

Rare, Vintange iPod Spotted On eBay For $25,000

Rare, Vintange iPod Spotted On eBay For $25,000

If you think about the iPod today, you wouldn't think that Apple would have needed help trying to sell the device, right. That might be true today, but 9 years ago might have been a different story because it seems that Apple and HP teamed up to create an iPod with HP's logo at the back. It's a rare piece of gadgetry and if you're a collector of gadgets of the past, or if you know someone who is, it seems that an auction on eBay has been spotted where the seller is auctioning off a "rare vintage collectors iPod", which is basically the iPod with HP's logo on the back.
