BMW begins testing autonomous car tech on highways

Automakers are always looking to push the boundaries with experimental technology, but BMW seems to be ahead of the curve with respect to autonomous vehicles. Previously, BMW was sticking to closed circuits to show off its TrackTrainer. Now, however, the German automaker is venturing out on to public roads, and it's doing so with an automated 5 Series fitted with advanced ConnectedDrive technology. The system is enabled with a push of a button, once a driver has reached a highway. After it's allowed to work its technical sorcery, the ConnectedDrive system takes over acceleration and braking duty.

Monitor the baby, or make a celebrity-style sex tape. You decide. Photo credit Stem Innovation. Izon is a “remote room monitor” which beams video across the Internet and onto the screen of your iPad, iPhone or iPod. It might also be described by a more cynical person than myself as a kind of lifestyle spy camera.

The Izon is a white plastic stick which swivels on its dome-shaped magnetic base to be easily pointed at whatever you want to spy on. Then, when away from home or office, you can dial in via a companion app and enjoy a live stream of whatever is going on.

If you can't wait until 2020 to take a vacation on Virgin's Spaceship to an orbital tour of outer space, then make a reservation in 2016 for the Russian Space Hotel.   The cost is a bit steep at $818,000 to travel via a Soyuz rocket to the hotel, and then another $163,000 for five days and four nights.  A family of four should get ready for some sticker shock as they would need to spend $4 million for a vacation in space, but think about the reports the kids would deliver in school the next week.

Android code found in BlackBerry OS 7?

It is said that a leaked copy of BlackBerry OS 7.0.0.353 is floating around, and for those who actually know how code works, they would have found some sort of Android code within. The whole reason behind that. Well, we do know that RIM's developers intend to include some sort of Android emulation in the QNX platform, so perhaps this leaked copy has all the relevant information. Perhaps it is just one specific routine, but without any further release of some sort of source code, it can be rather hard to say.

One-click Droid 3 root arrives

The Motorola Droid 3 has been rooted officially – which goes to say in layman's parlance that one is able to access developer files which were previously off-limits, allowing custom code to tweak the operating system in ways that was not possible before – needless to say this is a double-edged sword, but so far the homebrew community have delivered far more positives than negatives. Rooting a device could prove to be rather complicated at times, where the original method of going about it was relatively easy although you will still need to have ADB set up.
