The future might soon see less canvas and more electronics, as the originals of a particular masterpiece are stashed away in some maximum security building, while the replicas are displayed using a flat panel display or over a projector. Well, animated GIFs are starting to gain mainstream traction instead of being irritating addendum to an e-mail, where they have started to appear as an art form at a London exhibit. The exhibition is known as “Born in 1987: The Animated GIF”, where it was launched at The Photographers' Gallery while boasting over 40 animated GIFs that were created by artists of different disciplines.
