Rick Wagoner wants to make your next test drive more fun

Rick Wagoner wants to make your next test drive more fun

Actually, it's not Rick Wagoner all by himself, but the ex-GM chairman is working with a team of tech entrepreneurs who make up Tred, a new test drive concierge service. Tred is still in beta, but the idea is that you pick the cars you'd like to test drive, schedule delivery by concierges who are working to get positive feedback from folks like you and then try out the vehicles you're considering on the roads you know. There's been good in-roads for Tred in the Seattle area for both dealers and shoppers. How Tred manages to convert a delivery service that's asking for feedback into actual profit will be something to watch.

This LiteOn smartphone concept has a detachable Bluetooth earpiece

If you love using a Bluetooth earpiece but would rather not carry one in your pocket or have it attached to your ear all day, then this smartphone concept dubbed the LiteOn could be an interesting one if it were ever to be made a reality. Designed by the folks at the National Chiao Tung University, the premise is simple - basically it's a smartphone whose earpiece is detachable, allowing it to function as a Bluetooth headset.

Gran Turismo 5 Corvette C7 Is Playable

It has been a few weeks now that members of GTplanet and PlayStation.Blog have been speculating concerning the mysterious appearance of a camouflaged Corvette C7 that appeared in Gran Turismo 5's screen saver. Good to know that patience tends to dish out the best results, and it has been confirmed that the Gran Turismo 5 Corvette C7 is available, and you can download the free DLC now via the PlayStation Store. Spy photos do point towards an estimated value of $100,000, and Chevrolet has certainly done a whole lot to disguise the test car.

Nanotech Electronic Nose To Sniff Out Bombs

Nanotech Electronic Nose To Sniff Out Bombs

Despite all the different kinds of advancements made in the field of science and technology, modern day electronics are still unable to pick out a bomb the way a well trained dog is able to do so, as man's best friend has an unrivalled olfactory ability. They are about to receive a new challenger in the form of a nanotech device, thanks to researchers over at the University of California in Santa Barbara. This nanotech device was obviously inspired by a dog's scent receptors, relying on microfluidics to detect airborne molecules of TNT explosives, and is smart enough to tell them from other similar molecules.

New Hypercars Get Even More Horsepower

Just when you thought that having 1,000 horses underneath the hood in the Bugatti Veyron was the epitome of vehicle engineering, that just proved the start to the 2,000 horsepower mark. In the coming year ahead, Koenigsegg and Hennessy will roll out new versions of their Agera R and Venom GT respectively, and you can expect the performance of both to blow the mind away. The Hennessy Venom GT2 has its official details released to date, projecting a possible top speed of 287 mph, which is far more speed than the average driver (and road) is able to handle.

2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line looks to recapture some flash

2013 Volkswagen CC R-Line looks to recapture some flash

Some critics have suggested that the Volkswagen CC may have lost some of its visual verve following its 2012 facelift, the original CC's organic "four-door coupe" form having been made a bit more ordinary with version 2.0. This Volkswagen still has plenty of charm, of course, and those looking for a more aggressive appearance now have the option of the German automaker's newly revealed R-Line model. Primarily an appearance package, the $32,195 R-Line (plus $795 destination) features a unique grille and body kit, with model-specific side skirts and front fascia.

Manufacturing advances bring carbon fiber closer to mass production

Manufacturing advances bring carbon fiber closer to mass production

There's no one single breakthrough, but rather a combination of improvements that make this possible. Carbon fiber has been used in race cars, exotic sports cars and in automotive aftermarket parts for years. But now automakers believe they've identified the path of how to use it in mass production, and do so by the second half of this decade.

Google Play Limiting Nexus 4 Purchases To 2 Per Customer

Now this is interesting. If you're planning to buy a lot of Nexus 4 smartphones on Google Play for Christmas, you might as well read this report. Apparently Google Play is now limiting the number of Nexus 4 units a user can buy. Not four, not three or one, but two. Just two Nexus 4 units and you're officially out of luck. Google hasn't confirmed the limit neither did it gave any explanation.

But perhaps, Google knew that anyone lucky enough to buy more than ten, if not a hundred Nexus 4s, can sell it at a much higher price. No question whether or not it would sell, because the Nexus 4 is one hot Android smartphone.

Steve Ballmer-autographed Microsoft Surface tablet goes up for auction

A signed product by the CEO of the company or its designer isn't for everyone - after all they are usually priced way higher than the original, but at the same time we guess its price point can be justified by collectors who are looking to get their hands on a one-of-a-kind item. That being said if you think that describes you or someone you know, you might be interested to learn that a 32GB Microsoft Surface tablet signed by none other than Microsoft's Steve Ballmer has gone up for auction on eBay where at this time of posting, it is priced at a whopping €1,500.

Samsung announces SCH-W2013 quad-core Android flip phone for China

While flip phones back in the day might have been popular and somewhat cool, with full touchscreen smartphones being rather commonplace these days, do flip phones still have a market. Granted emerging markets might still demand feature phones, although a flip phone with a quad-core processor and powered by Android might seem a little out of place. Yup, it looks like Samsung has taken the wraps off a quad-core powered Android flip phone although it appears to be destined for the Chinese market. As you can see in the poster above, it looks like Samsung spared no expense and even got action movie star, Jackie Chan, to endorse it.

To meet that demand, Tata Motors, parent company of Jag and Land Rover, is partnering with Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co. The two announced plans to invest $1.75 billion to build a new plant and create a new, China-focused brand. 2014 is the target for completion of the factory. Aston Martin scores bids from Mahindra and UK equity house

Three weeks, ago Businessweek reported that Investment Dar, Inc. was looking to shed its majority stake in Aston Martin. The Kuwait-based financial firm is apparently seeking to restructure its debt load and has sought $800 million for its 64-percent share in the English automaker. That amount compares to the $925 million that it took for a consortium, Investment Dar among them, to purchase 100-percent of Aston Martin from Ford in 2007.
According to reports, bidding for the 64 percent hasn't gone anywhere near that price, however.

After all both Nokia and HTC's WP8 offerings come in pretty vibrant colors, and we're not sure if this is a manufacturer's requirement, but it looks like Huawei's upcoming Ascend W1 is following suit.
