After adding live TV streaming features to the DirecTV iPad app last fall, the company is expanding the feature today by pushing an upgrade that lets viewers watch video (but no live TV, yet) even when they're away from home. Dubbed DirecTV Everywhere, it follows up on the company's promises of more video for customer's mobile devices, offering "selected" video on-demand programming for on the go viewing.
Engadget, DirecTV iPad app adds (some) TV and movie streaming 'Everywhere'
Thanks for the article, Amie. I just am surprised to see how far behind DirecTV is from everyone else. If you check out what they have on their website right now you'll see they only have HBO, MAX and Sony Movie Channel available - everything else sends you to another site. On the other side of the fence, I'm a subscriber and employee of DISH so I love that I have access to over 25,000 titles with their video portal: DISHOnline.com. And with March Madness here I am able to make sure I don't miss a single game with the live streaming available from DISH. It'll probably be a long time before DirecTV can come close to offering that to me.
