2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 configurator fires up

Mercedes-Benz is launching its entry-level CLA-Class in the United States this fall, and you can now build the small, swoopy sedan of your dreams using the automaker's online configurator. Right now, your choices are limited to the front-wheel-drive CLA250 model, though Mercedes-Benz will be offering the CLA with 4Matic all-wheel drive not long after, as well as the hotter-than-hot CLA45 AMG. On the base end, the CLA250 starts at $30,825 (including $925 for destination), but things can move up quickly from there.

Fiat 500L ad gets saucy with Paul Revere

Fiat 500L ad gets saucy with Paul Revere

At new vehicle first drives, there's a pretty set series of events before an automaker throws you the keys to their new baby. Predictably, there's a design presentation, a mechanical deep dive, and increasingly, an infotainment system walkthrough. Less known but just as common, however, are the marketing presentations, wherein execs talk about target customers and periodically show print and video 'creative' for their campaigns. Usually, we assembled media dutifully watch, nod and smile when shown commercials, but that's about it. Laugher – let alone universal gales of the stuff – is rare.

Seinfeld tours with Citroën 2CV and French standup in latest CiCGC

Jerry Seinfeld has released his latest Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and the new episode is dedicated to all things French. Or at least as French as one can get in New York City. The show follows a 1950 Citroën 2CV and French comedian Gad Elmaleh as both try to endure Seinfeld's attempts to navigate the metropolis. Of course, Seinfeld and Elmaleh spend plenty of time stalled in the ancient piece of budget French engineering between stops at various French establishments around the city.

3 Wheeler is Morgan's best-seller, may spawn entire line

As a glorious rolling anachronism in a line of other rolling anachronisms, we're not surprised that the Morgan 3 Wheeler has found a small but fervent following. But even Morgan execs probably didn't see this coming: the trike is outselling all of the brand's other models – and not by a little bit. According to Autocar, the 3 Wheeler itself will account for over 600 units this year, outshining the sales ledgers of the 4x4, Plus 4 and Roadster models, as well as the Plus 8 and modern-look Aero, the latter two accounting for only about 150 units a year.

Canon EOS 70D Announcement Rumored For 2nd July

Canon EOS 70D Announcement Rumored For 2nd July

It was rumored the other day that Canon was preparing for a "big" announcement, although the exact details of that announcement still remains a mystery. However according to recent rumors, it has been speculated that perhaps during the announcement, Canon could also unveil a new camera, a possible successor to the EOS 60D in the form of the EOS 70D. While the specs of the camera remain unofficial at this point in time, leaked specifications might give us a clue as to what to expect. For starters the EOS 70D is rumored to feature a 20.2MP CMOS sensor with Canon's DIGIC 5+ processor.

Google Working On Video Game Console Of Their Own [Rumor]

The OUYA gaming console is pretty unique in the sense that it is powered by Google's mobile operating system, Android. However according to reports, it seems that Google might be interested in developing a console of their own which will also (unsurprisingly) be based on the Android operating system as well. The specifications, design or even its pricing remains a complete mystery at this point in time, but the reports are suggesting that it could see a fall release which we have to admit is pretty soon, especially since this is the first time we've heard of this.

The Homer to contest 24 Hours of LeMons

It's finally happened. A 24 Hours of LeMons team has built the definitive interpretation of The Homer from The Simpsons for competition in an upcoming race. As you may recollect, The Homer is the fictional car designed by Homer Simpson for his brother's car company. Designed with a separate compartment for screaming children and other Homer-centric goodies, the animated machine bankrupted its parent company and put Homer's brother out of a job. Now we get to watch it race other crap cans as it tackles Southern California's Buttonwillow Raceway on June 29.

Freightliner Cascadia Pikes Peak Special ride-along (video)

It seems as if every type of powered vehicle is attacking the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb these days, each in search of a new record as they climb the 12.42-mile road course to its finish at a gasping 14,110-foot elevation. While the "anything goes" Unlimited class provides plenty of powerful eye candy, the Open class is where we find Mike Ryan and his new Freightliner Cascadia Pikes Peak Special. Last year at Pikes Peak, the professional stunt driver campaigned a Freightliner and set his seventh record; that time climbing to the top in 12 minutes and 38 seconds.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 gets updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 gets updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

More than three months after Verizon's and Sprint's versions of it got updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is finally getting the new software version too. New, as in new for it, since 4.1 is now more than one year old. Still, if you own a Samsung tablet, getting any sort of update is something you should cherish and celebrate (since it really doesn't happen often). Unfortunately, this isn't going to be an over-the-air rollout, where your tablet notifies you about the update and then you download and install in a few taps.

Just washing your hands is no longer enough

Just washing your hands is no longer enough

According to WHOOSH. President Jason Greenspan, "Maintaining personal cleanliness doesn't end with washing our hands anymore. It should also extend to our phones and tablets, as we touch them all day long. We call it Tech Hygiene."  WHOOSH. is introducing a cleaning product that promises to be safe for your skin and for every touch screen.  It has such a long list of potentially harmful chemicals that it doesn't include that you'd be almost tempted to believe it's just water.

Original Sony PS4 Price Was Reportedly $500, Removal Of PS Eye Cut It By $100

As it stands, Sony's PlayStation 4 is $100 cheaper than Microsoft's Xbox One. The difference is that depending on the need of the gamer, they might choose to spend a bit more to get their hands on the PS Eye, while Microsoft basically includes the Kinect with the Xbox One bundle. However according to the reports from multiple sources who spoke to IGN, it seems that prior to E3, Sony had intended to include the PS Eye with the PS4 and were going to charge $500 for the entire bundle, similar to that of the Xbox One.

Have you noticed that more tv shows seem like car ads? (video)

With the advent of the DVR and streaming videos, companies are no longer able to rely on commercials to get their products in front of television viewers. Many companies, including automakers, have found an easy way to get around this by using product integrations. While product placement can be as subtle as a car used in a scene or in the backdrop of the show, product integration is essentially a mini commercial built into show's script.

Dish backs out of Clearwire bid, nothing to stop Sprint now

I guess Sprint's $5 a share offer was too rich for Dish's blood, causing them to fold on their Clearwire acquisition. They announced today via press release that they are now formally withdrawning their bid to purchase Clearwire, with nothing standing in the way of the soon-to-be-Softbank-owned Sprint. This finally ends a brutal bidding war for Clearwire and their spectrum. With a valuation of around $14 billion, Sprint's going to have to dig deep into their pockets to find the money for Clearwire.

After all, it does give out a sense of purpose to begin with – and a goal is a powerful catalyst to spur one to move forward in full confidence. Having said that, it seems that there is a new world land speed record for a lightweight electric car, thanks to Drayson Racing's Lola B12 69/EV vehicle that managed to achieve a top speed of 204.2mph (328.6km/h) over at a racetrack at RAF Elvington in Yorkshire.

LG G2 leaked video stills show rear volume controls and led notification ring

@evleaks has come through again, spoiling Android manufacturer's best kept secrets. This time he's providing us with some images of what appears to be an LG promo vid showing off the upcoming LG G2. This device will be the follow up to last year's stellar LG Optimus G and while we can't tell much from the blurry video shots, it appears as if LG has repositioned the volume controls to the back of the device, making for a very interesting (and different) design. You'll also notice a rear facing LED notification ring, which would only come in handy if one were to lay the phone face down.

Computers Could "Optimize People" One Day

Earlier today, Intel was presenting many of its R&D projects in San Francisco, and a few of them caught my attention. For example, this demo by Paul Crawford, a senior research scientist at Intel Labs, was particularly interesting. One of the research topic that his team is working on is that, if measured, human productivity/attention would look like a curve and that a person is most productive when he/she is focusing on the task at hand, but shows that either a lack of interest or too may distractions would negatively affect productivity or efficiency.

Gran Turismo 6 Demo Out This July 2

I do admit, when I first started to give Gran Turismo a spin on the PSX when that Sony console was the hottest thing on the market, it proved to be an extremely frustrating experience from two aspects. One, the load times were virtually killers for me, while the other is, it drove with the physics of an actual car, or at least that was what it felt like back then, instead of the usual driving sim physics that followed a more direct arcade style which I was used to.

Most Japanese salarymen (meaning corporate employees in Japanese) have to wear leather dress shoes even in the summer time. Can you imagine how terrible it feels to wear the leather shoes all day. Inside of the shoes will become very humid, sweaty and hot…. Previously we wrote about Thanko's “USB Necktie Cooler 3″ as a savior of Japanese salarymen in the summer time.
